Chennai Inclusive Urban Street Design Improvement Project

The Project

In Indias City Chennai, reduced sidewalks led to a modal shift to private vehicles even for shorter distances and sharp drops in the mode share of pedestrians. Inadequate response to this development led to more accidents. By creating a scalable grid based inclusive urban street design that can be replicated in other parts of the city, this challenge will be addressed. The project also aims to create a Door to Door safe street network that is inclusive, ecofriendly and sustainable. Main target groups are school students, college students and economically weaker residents.
