Capacity Development as an Accelerator for Sustainable Transport
Join us on Wednesday, 11 December from 15.00 – 17.00 CET for an online workshop where we will discuss the dependence of achieving sustainability and climate targets in the transport sector and capacities for urban mobility on the individual, institutional and societal level as a pre-requisite.
This workshop is part of TUMI’s engagement for strengthening human and institutional capacities for sustainable transport worldwide. TUMI through GIZ has commissioned Transport for Cairo (TfC) to capture the positive impact of investing in capacity building to achieve climate and sustainable transport goals. 21 representatives from 20 cities across 14 countries in Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America participated in a comprehensive survey. The responses showcase the capacity challenges of transport institutions and how cities address these challenges for the achievement of their short- and long-term transport decarbonization and just transition objectives.
The workshop will offer the chance to discuss and identify the necessary pre-requisites for a global actionable framework which can guide both the international transport community and decision-makers in cities to better cooperate and partner together to address capacity gaps in transport institutions.
