Cape town, South Africa: Promoting non-motorized transport through open streets

This is a project case story within the framework of the TUMI Challenge 2018. Citizens are experiencing the negative impacts of a legacy of urban planning that prioritises cars over people. The Open Streets Exchange in October 2018 invited African stakeholders to discuss non-motorised transport (NMT) and learn how street closures and other measures can help raise awareness of the importance of designing streets for people, so that rich and poor alike can safely move around the city without cars.
