Measure 1: Reduced Concentrations of Harmful Substances

Measure 1 from the Measures Catalogue for Improving the Circularity of Batteries Used in E-Buses focuses on reducing the concentration of harmful substances in E-bus projects.

The Catalogue:
– Elaborates on the ‘What‘, ‘Why‘, and ‘How‘ of this measure
– Identifies the project asset sub-systems where this measure can be applied
– Shares insights and experiences from the EU on implementing these measures
– Provides a draft tender criterion that could be used in procurement documents

This Catalogue details 11 key measures, offering concise guidance on designing, managing, and recycling processes that are feasible and can be implemented by transit agencies, fleet managers, and procurement agencies for E-bus projects.

Developed under the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative E-Bus Mission, the Catalogue was prepared in close consultation with various stakeholders in the E-bus sector, including OEMs, digitization service providers, battery diagnostic companies, NGOs, and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH’s Global project Go Circular.
