COVID-19 and Sustainable Mobility – Early Observations and Documentation

When the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic became an international challenge in early March 2020, it was clear that the impact on the transportation sector would be enormous. The paper focuses on urban mobility, examines the COVID-19 crisis itself, the measures taken by cities and the respective potential effects. It does not claim to be comprehensive or balanced, but focuses especially on sustainable mobility solutions, such as public transport, cycling and walking, shared mobility and the development of public space. To this end, observations, facts and initial assessments were documented.
