German-Brazilian project promoting electro-mobility

Under the German Climate Technology Initiative (DKTI), GIZ works on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) to implement the DKTI Energy-Efficient Propulsion Systems project in cooperation with the Brazilian Ministry for Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC). The project aims to improve the general conditions for electromobility.

Brazil has committed to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by 43% (compared to 2005 levels) by 2030 and, in addition, aims to improve its energy efficiency. Electromobility can therefore have a positive impact on these goals.

Given that the transport sector accounts for more than half of fossil fuel consumption and 46% of greenhouse gas emissions in the Brazilian energy sector, as well as the slow adoption of electric and hybrid vehicles, DKTI is in a position to change the market and contribute to Brazil’s goals.
