Hội An, Vietnam: On its way to become the first ecocity with a comprehensive bicycle plan and bike-sharing system
This is a project case story within the framework of the TUMI Challenge 2018. The city of Hội An is on its way to becoming Vietnam’s first eco-city. Faced with new challenges such as climate change, rapid urbanisation and increasing numbers of tourists, prioritising walking, cycling and public transport is at the heart of Hội An’s urban development strategy. The main initiatives taken are the pedestrianisation of the old town, the pilot project of e-vehicle sharing as a public transport option and the public-private bike-sharing programme.
