Municipality of Florianópolis, Brazil: Working towards an integrated public transportation system
This is a project case story within the framework of the TUMI Challenge 2018. Like many other Brazilian cities, Florianópolis faces challenges concerning traffic congestion. With an aim to transform its transportation system and mobility patterns to be less automobile-dependent and more people-oriented, Florianópolis takes an integrated and connected approach to sustainable urban mobility.
This story provides an overview of the measures taken, such as integration of bus operators, integration of the ticketing and fare system for inclusion, integration of information and integration with Bus Rapid Transit (BRT).
