Municipality of Niterói, Brazil: Creating momentum towards a walkable and bikeable city
This is a project case story within the framework of the TUMI Challenge 2018. In response to mobility challenges such as traffic congestion, Niteroi’s city leaders are working to make the city more accessible to pedestrians and cyclists, and are incorporating low-carbon mobility solutions into their new Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. By improving infrastructure and promoting a walking and cycling culture, the city is paving the way for a paradigm shift from a car-oriented to a people-oriented transport system.
