Lithium-Ion Battery Circularity
Want to build your skills in battery circularity and contribute to a more sustainable energy future?
Then join the new Training on Lithium-Ion Battery Circularity, developed by the GIZ global project Go Circular and the EU Global Gateway programme SWITCH to Circular Economy in Eastern and Southern Africa Programmes, in collaboration with the institute PEM of RWTH Aachen University and PEM Share from Germany.
This interactive training offers you the opportunity to deepen your knowledge and build practical skills in battery diagnostic, repair, remanufacturing and repurposing. The online course combines insights from one of Germany’s leading e-mobility research institutes with real-world applications and success stories from African experts and practitioners.
The six modules cover:
- Battery Technology
- Production & Circularity
- Safety & Operations
- Disassembly
- Battery Life-Extension and Second-Life Applications
- Recycling
Each module takes approximately 2.5 hours. Including the introduction, wrap-up, and final assessment, the full course takes around 18 hours.
And there’s more: The online course can be complemented by hands-on practical training to put the knowledge into practice. This training was recently piloted in Zambia and Kenya and integrated into their respective TVET systems.
Participants who successfully complete the course receive a certificate and join a growing international network of professionals working on battery circularity.
Join us in advancing circular solutions for lithium-ion batteries across Africa and beyond — from solar energy storage to electric mobility!
