Transport Data: From MRV to Action is an innovative and engaging digital course focusing on the intricacies of measuring, reporting, and verifying (MRV) greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions within the transportation sector. This course equips participants with the skills to create and execute effective MRV systems tailored to the transport industry. It also imparts valuable insights into data collection, transparency, and the significance of MRV systems in achieving Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). acked with a wealth of information, the flexible, self-paced online course allows you to complete it at your own convenience.

Target Group

This self-paced course accommodates individuals new to implementing NDC measures in transportation as well as those with technical expertise looking to refresh their understanding of international requirements. Gain insights from over 14 case studies and benefit from 6 lectures presented by experts within our network and partner countries.

Goal

Completing this course will empower you to calculate GHG emissions and prioritise policy measures for decarbonising transport systems. 

Learning objectives

With Dr. Mónica Espinosa (Hill Consulting), Grace Mukunzi (MEIR Research & Engineering), Gemma Burhanudin (GIZ Indonesia), Papondhanai Nanthachatchavankul (GIZ Thailand) and Marlan Pillay (UNFCCC) as lecturers, participants will work through the modules

• • learning about the causes of climate change and gain insight into the estimation and calculation of greenhouse gas emissions from the transport sector;
  • exploring the history and development of international climate talks, including MRV, Enhanced Transparency Framework (ETF) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs);
  • becoming acquainted with the most important data needs for estimating emission mitigation measures and how to develop baseline scenarios.
